Innovation village's Community Pass initiative provides MobiPay with secure digital cards for small-scale farmers in Uganda, giving them unique digital identities. MobiPay credentials farmers by capturing essential bio-data and production data, then integrates them into AgroBase, a cloud-based management information system. This integration enhances visibility, traceability, and access to innovative solutions. MobiPay also trains farmers in business development skills and collaborates with partners like Yara to distribute high-quality inputs and facilitate produce procurement, ensuring an efficient value chain process.

MobiPay is working with GOAL under the CRRP in Abim, Agago, Kaabong, Lira, Kitgum, Gulu, Omoro, Pader, Lamwo and Karenga to Develop, deploy, & support PSAs. The first phase provided technological support to NTH, Adyaka Millers, Chick Masters and TAF Assured) to use customized ICT Solutions including AgroBase MIS, Mobile application, AgriCredit Scoring System and Interactive Voice Response; Scale-up DCE model in Karenga and Kaabong, which includes conduct training for the 20 PSA staff and their Agents and support PSAs to adopt the DCE module; Train DCEs on COVID-19 awareness and prevention & Safeguarding; Sensitize 3,450 Youths on how to use the MIS, apply for services via calls and SMS text messages; Profile 3,450 Youths onto the AgroBase platform of which 70% must be (women age 16-35); Support 2,415 YWF & 1,035 YMF toaggregate inputs via USSD and mobile application, and Send extension and market information to 3,450 Youths profile onto the MIS platform. The second phase of the project is currently supporting two PSA’s, (Taff Assured and Mukwano to skill 40,000 youth (70% women) in 6 Soft skills and 5 technical subjects. The project will also be working with 200 youth Agents.

Kamwenge

MobiPay is providing a Market Information System for the implementation of USAID/Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance Food for Peace funded Graduating to Resilience Activity in Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement and the neighbouring sub-countries of Kamwenge district of Uganda. The system is working with 6600 host and refugee’s smallholder farmers, 89 Community-based trainers (agents), input dealers and off-takers.

With support from UNCDF, MobiPay is promoting an innovative Digital Community Entrepreneur (DCE) Model in the Maize and Oilseed value in Uganda in the Eastern (Busoga) and Northern region (Lira) of Uganda. The DCE model is focused on working with women and youth to promote digital financial services and products and clean energy solutions among the last mile population. Also, we seek to use this model not to only improve Youth’s livelihood, but also to allow youth to attain entrepreneurial skills and financial sustainability. Specifically, this project involves selling mobile phones, clean renewable energy (Solar) to the Youths; SensitizingYouths on the use of digital financial services like mobile money; Agency banking and how to use a phone the right way and providing youth jobs as DCEs.

Gulu, Lira

MobiPay in partnership with Volunteer Service Overseas (VSO) is piloting E-skilling in four (4) VTIs in Lira, Lamwo, Pader and Gulu districts of Northern Uganda. The principal aim of this project is to provide a comprehensive education innovation that will be a unique vehicle to reach those who are in and outside of the scope of traditional schooling but need to benefit immensely from access to Vocational and Technical educational programs/training. Accordingly, the MobiPay is providing an E-skilling and marketing platform to increase and improve access to and delivery of quality agricultural, life skills and entrepreneurial related education and training to wider communities and beneficiaries; increase youth employability after training by increasing the visibility and connecting skilled youth to potential employers based on-the-job experiences gained during studies, courses are taken and employable competencies relevant to the labour market; develop and define a new and sustainable business and revenue models for both MobiPay and VTIs, and Learn and use lessons and best practices from the pilot to scale up the e- skilling platform to other VTIs in Uganda and beyond.

MobiPay worked with TechnoServe (TNS) Uganda on the USAID Uganda Feed the Future Producer Organizations Activity, a value chain development project. We used value chain analysis and participatory approaches to understand the pain points, opportunities, and digital needs of twelve (12) Producer Organizations (POs) and membership- Nyekorac in Lira, BOMIDO in Masindi, BAIDA in Bugiri, Buwenge in Jinja, Kabonera and Kkingo in Lwengo, Rugendabara and Bigando in Kasese District, Kabambiro ACE in Kamwenge, Amach ACE in Lira, Butagaya ACE in Jinja and Kitumbi ACE in Kasanda in Oilseed, Maize, Beans, Diary and Coffee value chains in seven (7) districts across Uganda: Jinja, Bugiri, Lira, Masindi, Masaka, Lwengo, and Kasese districts, and other actors including input dealers, traders, government extension, commercial officers, etc. along the value chains. Results from the analysis were used to design an appropriate ICT platform- e-extension, input aggregation platforms, Agro-MIS, Youth profiling and digital purchasing and payments to facilitate POs activities and ensure business sustainability.

MobiPay is also worked with Mercy Corps on Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) funded program around Livelihood Programs for South Sudanese refugees in Bidibidi Settlement, Rhino Camp and Palorinya Settlement in Uganda. MobiPay provided a digital voucher system for diversified communities of refugees to building Livelihood activities and Agriculture resilience through agricultural inputs. Our main roles included Developed and deployed a revolutionary E-voucher system (mKilimo & Umlimi) for coupon redemption and digital payment; integrated mobile app (USSD) for voucher redemption and data gathering; developed an electronic coupon platform that allows merchants and agro-dealers to develop and disseminate their promotional messages; made digital payments to agro-dealers on the coupons redeemed; and trained market actors on the use of E-voucher platform for accountability, decision-making, and strategic planning.
